ANCHORAGE — Today a State Representative called on the Alaska State Troopers to look into possible criminal witness tampering in the state’s bi-partisan legislative Troopergate investigation. Since Gov. Sarah Palin was named to the McCain ticket on Aug. 29, the McCain campaign has sent campaign workers to Alaska to obstruct this investigation.

“Until McCain campaign staffers flew to Alaska to stop this investigation, the Governor and her staff agreed to comply with what we all know is a bi-partisan investigation. After Aug. 29 the campaign started working to block this investigation, and witnesses began joining that effort by ignoring their subpoenas and risking jail time. Something obviously changed the minds of these witnesses after Aug. 29th,” said Rep., Les Gara (D-Anchorage), a State Representative and Former Alaska Assistant Attorney General.

Alaska’s witness tampering statutes prohibit any person from “inducing” a witness to fail to comply with a subpoena. Almost daily, McCain staffers have called press conferences and made efforts to stonewall the legislative investigation. Prior to Aug. 29 no witness had stated they’d refuse to comply with the investigation, and the Governor in fact promised she and her staff would comply.

In the first minute of the pastor's speech, the pastor mentions "The Israelites were like this" when he was referring to "Bankers." It isn't clear if the pastor is saying that "Israelites" are a version of bad, money grubbing bankers in the context of his speech.

At the end Sarah Palin is standing before the church with two men at her side, and the pastor is bellowing a mantra of "in the name of Jesus".

My question: is this a cult or a church? Is this a house of the lord, or a house of the upwardly mobile being blessed by some foreign accented black man who is living well off the donations to the church?

Personally, I think the role of the church is to harmonize social relations within the community. Standing before the church and getting blessed by some holy man is not my idea of the role of the church. Being blessed by someone who speaks the right phrases is not indicative of becoming holy.

In my opinion, whatever God whom may exist would judge us by our intentions and our good works, not because we stand before the flock and have some official man of god rain jargon on our heads.

With one week left in the season, its looking good for the Nawlins Napsters in the Espn Fantasy Baseball League. Unless my team takes a nose-dive over the next week, the Nawlins Napsters will repeat as champions this year.

The additive Bisphenol-A (BPA) is an artificial sex hormone that is used to manufacture plastics. They are banning the additive in Canada. In the United States however, the multi-billion dollar chemical industry has effectively censored this news from the media.

...scientists have known since the 1930s that BPA mimics estrogen in the body, for unrelated reasons, the chemical serves as an essential building block of hard, clear polycarbonate plastics and tough epoxy resins, ubiquitous materials in the modern world.

... a research team from a Yale University medical school research team has come up with some of the most troubling data yet: after injecting African green monkeys for 28 days with BPA at the level the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says is safe for people, the researchers found the chemical "causes the loss of connections between brain cells." "We observed a devastating effect on synapses in the monkey brain," says Yale scientist Tibor Hajszan. In humans, these losses could lead to memory and learning problems and depression.

The monkey study is only the latest in a sequence of independent studies. One scientist at Washington State discovered the eggs in her control group having more mutative effects than the experimental group. And ...

[ a] search for lab contaminants led to a temporary lab aide who had washed the plastic cages and bottles with a caustic floor detergent, unleashing enough BPA into the control animals' food and water to scramble the chromosome alignment in their eggs.

Elect Obama for our president

Dear God, please trounce all the Republicans and elect Obama as our President. He is the man. I am moved to tears when I hear this speech.

Let it be forever known that I love my country. It has been a long time since I have been moved to tears by hearing a "politician" speak. Obama moves me to tears. I really believe that Obama is as sincere as a man running for the Presidency can be when it comes to honestly wanting to point our nation in the right direction.

Pray like you've never prayed before. Motivate like you have never motivated before. Speak up now like you have never spoken up before. And take no shit from morons who don't pay attention. Because now is the time. Now. Not 2012. Right now.

We can't afford four more years of corruption and incompetency.

Anyone listening to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin at the recent U.S. Republican convention would believe that TransCanada workers are poised, shovels at the ready, to start construction of a 2,760-kilometre pipeline bringing natural gas from Alaska through Canada to the lower 48 states. They would be wrong.

Because the project was initiated 30 years ago and is not even completed yet. And furthermore ...

given that both pipelines have experienced 30 years of delays, it is not too much of a stretch to imagine that construction on the first would still be ongoing when the second is due to start. That would lead to competition for workers, equipment and materials, forcing the price of all three up, perhaps to the point where the project no longer made economic sense.

So McCain is gonna bring "real change" eh?

Politico reports today that “at least 16” of Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) former Senate staffers have gone on to careers in lobbying, according to an analysis of federal lobbying records. In some cases, McCain staffers have gone to K Street and then returned to McCain’s office:

In many cases, they went to work for clients whose issues the staffers dealt with in the Senate. … Still, during McCain’s nearly 25 years in Congress, the revolving door has remained open. As his aides have moved downtown from Capitol Hill, they’ve drawn from their experience on the senator’s personal staff or on his key committees: Armed Services, Commerce and Indian Affairs

It was a mainstay of Jim Crow segregation: for 100 years after the Civil War, Southern white Democrats kept eligible blacks from voting with poll taxes, literacy tests and property requirements. Starting in the 1960s, the U.S. Supreme Court declared these assaults on the heart of American democracy unconstitutional.

Now, with the help of a 2008 Supreme Court decision, Crawford vs. Marion County (Indiana) Election Board, white Republicans in some areas will keep eligible blacks from voting by requiring driver's licenses. Not only is this new-fangled discrimination constitutional, it's spreading.

GOP proponents of the move say they are merely trying to reduce voter fraud. But while occasional efforts to stuff ballot boxes through phony absentee voting still surface, the incidence of individual vote fraud—voting when you aren't eligible—is virtually non-existent, as "The Truth About Vote Fraud," a study by the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University, clearly shows. In other words, the problem Republicans claim they want to combat with increased ID requirements doesn't exist. Meanwhile, those ID hurdles facing individuals do nothing to stop the organized insiders who still try to game the system.

In Crawford, the court upheld an Indiana law essentially requiring a passport or driver's license in order to vote. But more than two thirds of Indiana adults have no passports and nearly 15 percent have no driver's licenses. These eligible voters, disproportionately African-American, will need to take a bus or catch a ride from a friend down to the motor vehicles bureau to make sure they obtain a nondriver photo ID. Otherwise, they cannot vote in Indiana this year.

That, my friends, is how the Republicans support Democracy. In order to prevent maybe 100 cases of potential voter fraud, they deny 50,000 voters the right to vote.
