It's not about being liberal or conservative anymore y'all. That is a hype offered by the fascist whores who want to confuse the people with lies while they turn this country into an aristocratic police state. Some people will say anything to attain power and money. There is no such thing as the Liberal Media, but the Corporate media is very real.

A Plastic Graveyard

This Video from Sky news in Britain is 2 years old, but still relevant, and probably worse.

This is why I use my own mug and bring my own bag to the grocery. I realize that I still buy bacon in a plastic container, and use saran plastic wrap for covering leftovers, but I try to use glass jars or containers whenever possible.

By 2050 the weight of plastic in the ocean will be more than the weight of fish.

OMG.

Mueller speaks

On the 29th of May 2019, Robert Mueller read out loud this statement:

The indictments allege and the other activities in our report describe efforts to interfere in our political system. They needed to be investigated and understood ... that there were multiple, systematic efforts to interfere in our election.

And that allegation deserves the attention of every American.

The Methane Time Bomb

Here is one of my favorite youtube channels called "Lets Have A Think" that discusses the potential massive Methane release which will occur from ancient organic matter of dead animals that get released when the Artic ice disappears. In particular, Methane Hydrate (Methane locked up into a hydrate molecule) which he discusses at around the timestamp of 5:50.

What happens when a massive release into the atmosphere of Methane occurs? (At timestamp 10:48) Methane is 80 times more powerful than Carbon Dioxide as a greenhouse gas, and degrades into Carbon Dioxide, creating lingering effects. All of which gets absorbed by the oceans, acidifying the water. After a certain concentration, calcium carbonate cannot form in the oceans, then all of the diatoms, coral reefs, crustaceans and one-celled organisms can no longer exist, which destroys the food chain. The oceans might become absent of life before 2100.

About 1.4 Trillion tons (1400 Billion Tons) of Methane is trapped in the Arctic coastal shelves. Currently about 7 million tons (0.0005% of the total) is released yearly into the atmosphere on average. In the geologic past, when massive volcanic activity or the impact of a huge meteor spewed green-house gases into the atmosphere, decades of climate change resulted which destroyed the ecosystems that had been extant, causing mass extinctions from the plant and animal kingdom. We are currently living during the 6th mass extinction -- which is being called the Holocene Extinction.

Here is a recent article called "18 signs we're in the middle of a 6th mass extinction".

Bernie Rocks

Economic rights are human rights, and that is what I call Democratic Socialism....

They don't really oppose all forms of socialism. They may hate Democratic Socialism because it benefits working people, but they absolutely love corporate socialism that enriches Trump and other billionaires....

Bernie then calls for an economic bill of rights. FDR proposed such an economic bill of rights in his 1944 State of the Union address to Congress, but Roosevelt died before he was able to carry the idea to conclusion. Bernie brings this up at the end of his speech.

Here is snippet from FDR's 1944 State of the Union address, 11 January 1944

We have come to a clear realization of the fact that true individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. "Necessitous men are not free men." People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.

In our day these economic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all — regardless of station, race, or creed.

Among these are:

  • The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
  • The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
  • The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
  • The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
  • The right of every family to a decent home;
  • The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
  • The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
  • The right to a good education.

All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

America's own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for our citizens.

The fallacy of immigrants taking jobs

The fallacy of immigrants taking jobs rather than conforming to the cultural economy is easily disproved.

The economy of humans exists to serve the needs of humans. When the larger society of humans increases or aggregates in certain locations to form cities and towns, the economy expands, because more people means more business. Like a bucket of water. Even if you add a lot of water at once, the surface will swoosh to and fro initially, but eventually, the level of water will balance; because jobs are proportional to the population. So the idea that immigrants are stealing native jobs is mainly a distraction from the larger dysfunctional economic syndrome. The institutions and entrepreneurs who form the economic networks that serve humans exist in a legal environment. When that environment becomes manipulated by the wealthy, the privileged, and/or the scoundrels, the system squeezes everyone else and then chooses easy scapegoats — those who are the most marginalized and vulnerable — to avoid the obvious but inherent introspection: why our commonwealth cannot organize a socially acceptable production system.

When immigrants are blamed for taking jobs, or lowering the wages, that is because they are being blamed for the choices made or the environment created by those who depend upon employing the immigrants. Increasing wages and jobs is not antithetical to the profit motive, but becomes a lost message since it is easier to scapegoat and misdirect in order to make more profits. It is easier to view the problem from the shallow end of the pool, rather that venture out into the murky, deeper waters.

The Truth is a screwdriver and lies are the screws

Here is Chris Cuomo systematically dismantling the hypocrisy (and then --during the last 2 or 3 minutes -- Chris lets Don Lemon remind us all that "racism" is a life and death issue for people of color):

This is about the 1989 case called "The Central Park 5", when 5 black and latino youths were falsely accused of raping a jogger in Central Park. Trump is asked about this because a recent Netflix documentary has came out. In 2002, the person who actually did the crime confessed, and his DNA matched. The 5 teenagers who were falsely convicted despite no DNA matches were then exonerated. The story is all about the meme of you get "tough" on crime by putting people of color in jail regardless of evidence. Which is what happened.

At the time Trump took out a full page ad in the New York Times newspaper telling citizens "Bring Back the Death Penalty. Bring Back the Police!" when this controversy popped up in the latter 1980's.

Here is what Trump says when asked earlier this week:

You have people on both sides of that. They admitted their guilt. If you look at Linda Fairstein, if you look at some of the city prosecutors, they think that the city should have never settled that case. So, we'll leave it at that."

Linda Fairstein was the lead prosecutor.

Now read that linked article from https://www.thenation.com and then re-read what the president said above.

A brief history of the contentious US - Iran relationship

This is from Kim Iversen.

She is the daughter of a Vietnamese refuge and a small town Idaho farmer. She grew up in Boise with her father after her parents divorced at the age of 3, but visited her mother in Southern California regularly. She is also an accomplished jazz drummer.

Interesting and very intelligent woman.

Here is a youtube video from The Humanist Report that contains Bernie Sanders (about 4 seconds after the timestamp 8:15) rebutal:

Will this be another Gulf of Tonkin?

If you don't know what the Gulf of Tonkin is ... [Click here]

Here is what google shows when you do a google on "Iran":

Oh my. Sounds like it's time to spend trillions of dollars and millions of lives in order to ... defend freedom?

The owner of the Japanese tanker attacked on Thursday said US reports have provided “false” information about what happened in the Gulf of Oman.

The ship operator said “flying objects” that may have been bullets were the cause of damage to the vessel, rather than mines used by Iranian forces, as the US has suggested.

Yutaka Katada, chief executive of the Japanese company operating the ship called Kokuka Courageous, one of two vessels attacked near the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, said the damage could not have been caused by mines or torpedos that are shot underwater, since the damage was reportedly above the ship’s waterline.

“It seems that something flew towards them. That created the hole, is the report I’ve received,” Mr Katada said at a press conference in Tokyo on Friday, the Financial Times reported. Mr Katada also described reports of a mine attack as "false" according to several outlets in attendance at the press conference.

Joseph Stalin

Here is a depiction of Joseph Stalin's personality during the Great Purge, from a diary in 1935, one of the early Communist Revolutionaries Nikolai Bukharin wrote:

“He is unhappy about not being able to convince everyone, himself included, that he is greater than anyone. And this unhappiness of his may be his most human trait, perhaps the only human trait in him, but what is not human, and rather something devilish, is that because of this unhappiness, he cannot help but take revenge on people, on all people, but especially upon those whom he thinks is in a higher or better way than him.”

The Color Grey

They suck the soul right out of you
They squeeze you down into and against the concrete
press you hard onto the solid flat surface of unreasonable expectations
and then hang you out to dry in the sun
while your true colors evaporate
and you become assessed somewhere in between the extremes of black and white
where all the gradations of the grey adumbrated spectrum apply
but since no one discerns character by shadows or shaded regions
you are not given the benefit of doubt
you are not allowed to rise into your own phantom shell
like shellfish and crustaceans who protect themselves from the weight of the sea with their hard exoskeletons surviving on the refuse of the exterior environment
weighted on the scales at the market of vapid souls
and devoured without splendor by the cheerless bourgeoisie
because only the self-righteous think everyone else is a fool
needing scapegoats for their fragile occupation in the revenue stream
by which society allocates resources and income
and you think you are in the upper strata looking down
at the victims below
like paint which loses its color
squeezes itself into a dull darkened shade of grey
because we are all the same
just vulnerable creatures clinging to illusions
holding onto dreams or delusions
while still breathing
