It's not about being liberal or conservative anymore y'all. That is a hype offered by the fascist whores who want to confuse the people with lies while they turn this country into an aristocratic police state. Some people will say anything to attain power and money. There is no such thing as the Liberal Media, but the Corporate media is very real.

Well look at that

For two months, President Trump repeatedly pitched hydroxychloroquine as a safe and effective treatment for coronavirus, asking would-be patients “What the hell do you have to lose?”

Growing evidence shows that, for many, the answer is their lives.

Clinical trials, academic research and scientific analysis indicate that the danger of the Trump-backed drug is a significantly increased risk of death for certain patients. Evidence showing the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in treating covid-19 has been scant. Those two developments pushed the Food and Drug Administration to warn against the use of hydroxychloroquine outside of a hospital setting last month, just weeks after it approved an emergency use authorization for the drug.

Alarmed by a growing cache of data linking the anti-malaria drug to serious cardiac problems, some drug safety experts are now calling for even more forceful action by the government to discourage its use. Several have called for the FDA to revoke its emergency use authorization, given hydroxychloroquine’s documented risks....

Rick Bright, former director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, told Congress on Thursday that political pressure forced “dozens of federal scientists” to spend a harried 48-hour stretch rushing to put together a protocol for approving hydroxychloroquine for widespread use in covid-19 patients.

In his whistleblower complaint, Bright said he was removed from his position in part because of his reluctance to promote the use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, because they had not been tested and deemed safe for treating covid-19.

...Yogen Kanthi, assistant professor in the division of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Michigan, said that it has been clear that the combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin — used to treat bacterial infections — could lead to cardiac arrhythmias, which cause the heart to beat irregularly or too fast or slow. Many patients hospitalized for covid-19 had underlying cardiovascular disease that put them at higher risk for arrhythmias, “so it shouldn’t be surprising we saw an increase in death,” he said.

...A study of Veterans Affairs patients hospitalized with the coronavirus found no benefit and higher death rates among those taking hydroxychloroquine, researchers said last month. AD

More than 27 percent of patients treated with hydroxychloroquine died, and 22 percent of those treated with the combination therapy died, compared with an 11.4 percent death rate in those not treated with the drugs, the study said.

...Doctors in Brazil stopped a trial of chloroquine, closely related to hydroxychloroquine, after 11 patients died. They reported in JAMA Open Network on April 24 that in 81 patients, those who took high doses of the drug had a 3.6-fold higher death rate as compared to a lower dose group.

Yet you have protests touting Hydroxychloriquine and blaming the media like there is some kind of media/deep-state conspiracy holding back this awesome drug Trump was talking up because he knows people who would make a lot of money. Science steps aside when money is in your eyes, and you have media outlets like Fox News who will gladly peddle your gibberish into the minds of unfortunate citizens. The greedy love to manipulate the ignorant.

This is how easily COVID can spread

From one person, in a confined buffet-style restaurant after only 30 minutes, the spread was everywhere, and literally everyone had an equally good chance of exposure.

Later on the segment discusses wearing masks in restaurants. My question: how do you put food in your mouth with a mask on? When people talk while wearing masks, air and particles escape out of the side.

Some of the public are unfortunately delusional believing that rebooting the economy is simply a matter of just "ending the lock-down."

Response to a troll, episode 10 billion

They never go away. I know my effect is nil, but sometimes I can't help myself.

Here

Troll: They chose leftist ideology long ago and now they are reaping the consequences. California should not get bailed out.

Let california go bankrupt and hopefully the effort to split it up into separate states gets a boost.

ginardo napoli(me): Fuck you. When revenues fall and expenses go up that has nothing to do with "leftist" policies. When you have an economic contraction that devastates tax revenue because of the contraction of overall economic revenue, that has nothing to do with leftist policies.

When you own a business and your revenue drops 50% because of external economic factors, that has nothing to do with the efficiency in which the business (or government) originally operated.

Republicans and non-leftist live here too. Why would you want to dismantle the 7th top economic region in the world? That makes no sense, and is only suggested by morbid plutocrats (or the trolls who work for them) because they want to destroy a functional economic region merely so they can turn California into the banana republics they have already turned some of the States in the Southeast, who have to be subsidized by tax inflows from the Federal government tax dollars in order to remain viable. Meanwhile, California pays out more in Federal Tax revenues than it receives. Which is fine, thats' why this is the "United" states of America, but when you self-righteously push these memes of letting the states go bankrupt, the implication is that we are no longer "united" at all.

What part of "united" do you not understand? This should not become politicized, but that's what people like you do. You hide your real agenda behind some concocted degenerate meme that discounts the reality of history and actual facts, because the plutocrats who own you (whether by choice, or otherwise) need to get rid of democracy and just implant their political theocracy with chosen politicians.

God I miss the Rockefeller and Romney Republicans, because with unfortunately rare exception these days, the modern Republicans have to orchestrate a framed hissy fit in order to gain any traction or leverage against the truth. When confronted with the cold hard truth, all of their hissy fits wither into oblivion, or they splinter into varying degrees of utter hypocrisy.

But in the end, all of them do a version of PDB ... "They Promise everything, Deliver nothing, and Blame everyone else."

Hoy shit part 3

My state of California went from a 21.5 billion dollar surplus with a rainy day fund of 16 billion, into a possible 54 billion dollar deficit in just 3 months.

Here is Governor Gavin Newsome explaining this today.

The fish rots at the top

Click here for a story in Kaiser Health News.

The Trump administration has sent hundreds of millions of dollars in pandemic-related bailouts to health care providers with checkered histories, including a Florida-based cancer center that agreed to pay a $100 million criminal penalty as part of a federal antitrust investigation.

At least half of the top 10 recipients, part of a group that received $20 billion in emergency funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, have paid millions in recent years either in criminal penalties or to settle allegations related to improper billing and other practices, a Kaiser Health News review of government records shows....

Dignity Health, one of the largest hospital systems in the West, received $180.3 million in HHS bailout funds, making it the top recipient listed. It has settled civil accusations by DOJ that it submitted false claims to Medicare and TriCare, the military health care program.

Because that is how you drain the swamp. Regardless of all those feel good commercials you see about having "Dignity", the for-profit health-care network is always about squeezing more money into profits.

Even Tom Ridge

Tom Ridge is a Bush Republican. It appears the Bush Republicans are trying to wrest their party from the grips of white nationalist/national socialist and racist elements that Trump has enabled. But truth be told, the Bush Republicans laid the foundation for where we are now under Lee Atwater and the "Southern strategy" they used to capture the innate racism of the South into the Republican party in the years after Nixon demolished the party's integrity.

One of Ronald Reagan's instrumental statements during the 1979/1980 campaign was to show up at Philadelphia, Mississippi on 3 August 1980 (infamous place of civil rights murders in the 1960's) and say this. Here is a wikipedia on the topic.

The murders of Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner, also known as the Freedom Summer murders, the Mississippi civil rights workers' murders or the Mississippi Burning murders, involved three activists who were abducted and murdered in Neshoba County, Mississippi in June 1964 during the Civil Rights Movement.

It doesn't matter what he said really. It's where he decided to go and say it. He could have gone to Jackson, Mississippi -- the state capitol -- or Biloxi or Natchez or Oxford or Hattiesburg or Tupelo or Meridian. But instead, of all places in Mississippi to choose, he chooses the location most linked with that raw civil rights history. Getting that big government off your back apparently means the locals have the right to mitigate their social decisions with a few well placed bullets every now and then.

Wink, wink. Anyone ever hear of what is called a dog-whistle?

Meanwhile.

Tom Ridge is an American veteran and former governor who has strong words for the armed protestors opposing lockdown measures across the country. Ridge served in Vietnam and went on to become America’s first Secretary of Homeland Security in the aftermath of 9/11. He speaks with Michel Martin about the need for self-sacrifice and unity in times of crisis.

How the Spreading works

Cellphone data shows 300 of the people who had gathered in Lansing for “Operation Gridlock” scattered throughout the state after the protest. The color of the dot represents device activity: yellow is more activity, red is lighter.

Holy shit part 2

Click here for a slide show of recent economic trends and unemployment from the perspective of the last 12+ years.

Here's the "official" unemployment rate (it's probably more than 20%) over time compared to all the past recessions starting in 1948.
